What goes into a Capri-Sonne?
Only natural raw materials of the highest quality are used to make Capri-Sonne. Synthetic additives such as artificial flavorings, colorings and preservatives are not ever involved. In Germany and many other European countries, the fruits in Capri-Sonne come exclusively from controlled-integrated cultivation. This conserves natural resources and helps guarantee sustainable production processes.

Why doesn't Capri-Sonne use any sweeteners?
Only natural ingredients are used in Capri-Sonne. which is why it does not contain any sweeteners.
Physicians' associations and health organizations have called for child-friendly foods without artificial sweeteners. Studies show that the sweeteners are so intense that they increase people's threshold for sweet tastes in foods, which in turn leads us to eat more sweets in general.

How is Capri-Sonne made?
Unlike fruit juices, which are made of fruit-juice concentrate or unreconstituted juice, fruit-juice beverages like Capri-Sonne are made of something called compounds. In addition to fruit-juice concentrate, compounds also contain things such as natural flavorings. This base is then mixed with sugar and water before being bottled. Capri-Sonne contains between 10-12% juice, depending on what flavor it is.

How is Capri-Sonne's quality tested?
Capri-Sonne's top quality is regularly tested by the Institut Fresenius, which has granted the beverage its seal of quality. Not only is the final product tested, so is every step of the production process, from obtaining the raw materials all the way to filling the pouches.
Quality management at Capri-Sonne fulfills the German ISO 9001 standard and other international benchmarks, including the International Food Standard (IFS).

Where are the fruits used in Capri-Sonne grown?
Only fruits from controlled-integrated cultivation are used in the Capri-Sonne made in Germany and many other European countries. This approach is a voluntary commitment the fruit farmers pledge to, and in every region it involves binding principles. These include integrated pest control (which means avoiding chemical pesticides as much as possible), protecting the soil and conserving flora and fauna. There is constant monitoring and documentation to make sure these measures are upheld. Capri-Sonne fruits are grown in many parts of the world. Our oranges mostly come from Brazil, the berries are from eastern Europe and exotic fruits are from Asia.

How much sugar does Capri-Sonne have?
The sugar content of the classic Capri-Sonne flavors Orange, Cherry, Cola-Mix, Multivitamin, Safari Team and Power Team is around 10%. The lower-sugar flavors, including the Orange-Peach kinds in the tall 0.33-liter pouch have about 7% sugar.

Is Capri-Sonne suitable for diabetics?
You can find the nutritional information for each flavor under "All of our flavors at a glance.“ Diabetics can use the nutritional information to calculate the relevant carbohydrate units (CU).

How many calories does Capri-Sonne have?
The Capri-Sonne flavors Orange, Multivitamin, Cherry, Cola Mix, Safari Fruits and Power Team have between 41 and 44 calories per 100 ml. By contrast, 100% apple juice has a comparable number of calories (46 cal) and whole milk has more (68 cal).
The new Capri-Sonne flavors Orange Peach and Red Fruits & Lemon have around 30% fewer calories and less sugar and have between 28.5 and 29.5 calories per 100 ml, which satisfies the requirements of a low-sugar and low-calorie diet.

Does Capri-Sonne have much fruit acid?
Capri-Sonne contains less fruit acid than fruit juices. Capri-Sonne has 2.1 to 3.3 grams of acid per liter, depending on the flavor, whereas fruit juice has up to 12 grams.

Does Capri-Sonne have vitamins?
Capri-Sonne contains the vitamins naturally found in its fruit juices. The Power Team and Multivitamin flavors in 0.2- and 0.33 liter pouches are also vitamin-enriched; more detailed information can be found under "All of our flavors at a glance.“

Is there any alcohol in Capri-Sonne?
Non-alcoholic beverages can contain trace amounts of alcohol, because flavorings are alcohol-based solutions. Alcohol is a natural metabolic by-product of fruits, and every fruit and every fruit juice has trace amounts of it. The alcohol content is so very minimal, though, that fruit-juice beverages can safely be declared non-alcoholic.

Does Capri-Sonne have pork-based gelatin?
Suppliers elsewhere in the production chain often clarify juices with gelatin. However, there are Capri-Sonne flavors which contain unclarified juices, i.e. juices which have not been in contact with animal products. The flavors Orange, Safari Fruits and Cola Mix are safe for Muslims as well.

Does Capri-Sonne contain gluten?
All Capri-Sonne flavors have been classified gluten-free according to the guidelines of the Codex alimentarius. Beyond that, Capri-Sonne is also listed among the gluten-free foods named by the German Coeliac Society.

Does Capri-Sonne contain lactose?
No lactose has been added to any Capri-Sonne product. In other words, Capri-Sonne is lactose-free.

Does Capri-Sonne contain any allergens?
The Capri-Sonne flavors currently marketed do not contain any of the allergens identified by the EU. What's more, anyone who has allergies or is sensitive to individual foods can review the ingredients of each flavor at "All of our flavors at a glance.“

Where does the water in Capri-Sonne come from?
The only water used to make Capri-Sonne comes from carefully monitored wells that are 130 meters (around 400 feet) deep. The water regularly undergoes microbiological and chemical tests, both in our in-house lab and at an official test lab.

What does the expiration date mean?
A food's expiration date indicates how long that product will keep its defining characteristics under the appropriate storage conditions. Capri-Sonne's expiration date is carefully monitored. If the pouch is unopened, the quality of our product and packaging will remain unchanged until at least the expiration date indicated. When a month is given, the expiration date applies to the end of the month stated. For example, 05/12 means it's good until the end of May 2012.

How much Capri-Sonne should my child drink?
The best way to quench thirst is by drinking mineral water and unsweetened fruit or herbal tea. But you also can mix things up by making juice spritzers and fruit-juice beverages – and kids usually like them better.

Children up to the age of the 10 should drink about a liter per day; up to age 15, it should be about 1.5 liters. Kids usually do not stay hydrated enough. So make sure you offer your child different options like Capri-Sonne, because having delicious choices and variety makes it easier to drink as much as you should. And beyond that, Capri-Sonne is the perfect refreshment for active children on the go and getting exercise.
